Twelve people rescued after ‘getting into difficulty’ on Lough Neagh - public praise volunteers for ‘risking their lives to save others’
A post on ‘Lough Neagh Rescue’ and posted on July 4 said they were “paged by CGOC Belfast Coastguard and tasked to 12 casualties who had got into difficulty near Shane’s Castle”.
The post adds the call was received at 8.20pm.
“Lifeboats proceeded to the area where they quickly located the casualties (9 adults and 3 children) who had made it to the shore,” the post adds.
“A Lee-shore Rescue was carried out by our team.

Hide Ad“They were able to get the casualties onboard the lifeboats and safely transported to Antrim marina to an awaiting shore team”.
The boats returned to base at 11pm.
Members of the public have praised the team underneath the post.
One said: “A big well done keeping people safe”.
Another said: “Well done to all those who risked their lives to save others”.
However another post added: “God Bless all of the volunteers that risk their lives for others”.
