The public have been invited to air views on plans to alter the Strangford ferry timetable.

The proposals would see an earlier service instituted from Portaferry on weekdays.

However, it would also axe the last sailings from both Strangford and Portaferry, on weekdays and on Sunday, between October and April.

Presently the last sailing from Strangford to Portaferry (on both weekdays and on Sundays) is at 10.30pm.

The last sailing from Portaferry to Strangford (on both weekdays and Sunday) is 10.45pm.

The changes would mean that the final sailing from Strangford to Portaferry on these days would be at 10pm, while the final sailing in the other direction would be at 10.15pm.

The additional service proposed would be from Portaferry to Strangford at 7.20am on weekdays all year round.

Saturday services would be unchanged.

The consultation is open until November 27, and can be viewed online at: www.drdni.gov.uk/consultations
