The body of a pensioner from Dungannon swept away in flood water has been found in Co Monaghan in the Republic.
Irish police recovered the body of Ivan Vaughan, 70, around 10 metres from his car in Corraghdown, near the village of Glaslough.
It is believed the veteran musician with the showband ‘Plattermen’, was returning to his home in Co Tyrone on Sunday night when he encountered heavy flooding on a minor road caused by Storm Desmond.
A major search operation to find the missing man was mounted yesterday morning.
The pensioner’s body was found at around 11.30am.
A Garda spokesman said: “It is believed the car the man was driving entered the flood water and he got out of the car and was swept away by the force of the flood.”
Mr Vaughan was pronounced dead at the scene.
