Prince George is two on Wednesday. Here are the top 10 moments of his short life so far.

1: His first wave

Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge, third in line to the throne and a future King, made his public debut at just one day old outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital.

Cradled in his proud parents’ arms, the baby prince, whose name had yet to be revealed, thrilled well-wishers by wiggling his fingers – promptly dubbed his first royal wave.

2: On his best behaviour

George was good as gold at his christening. Dressed in the traditional cream frilly gown - a replica of the Victorian Royal christening outfit – the chubby-cheeked three-month-old prince gurgled and blew bubbles ahead of the short service at the Chapel Royal.

3: Showing his playmates who is boss

George was dubbed a Royal bruiser for stealing other babies’ toys when he joined a playgroup in New Zealand and making a little girl called Paige cry after grabbing her wooden doll.

4: Bilby-throwing antics

George has a lot to learn about accepting Royal gifts.

Presented with a cuddly toy bilby – a rabbit-like marsupial – at a Sydney zoo, the nine-month-old grabbed it with delight before immediately flinging it on to the floor.

5: At the Butterfly house

William, Kate and George were pictured together in a touching family portrait for his first birthday at a butterflies exhibition at London’s Natural History Museum, with the young prince fascinated by the delicate insects.

6: At the Lindo Wing

George’s first public appearance in the UK since he was a newborn saw him being taken to the Lindo Wing by the Duke of Cambridge to meet new baby sister Princess Charlotte for the first time.

The toddler prince, sporting a side parting, copied his father by waving at the crowds, hurried towards him for reassurance and received a kiss on the head from William as he was carried up the steps.

7: At the polo

While William and Prince Harry played polo in June at Beaufort Polo Club in Tetbury, Gloucestershire, George and Kate entertained each other by dancing about, with the prince clambering up a bank, grabbing handfuls of grass and happily rolling around.

8: With his sister

George was shown tenderly cradling his sister Princess Charlotte when she was just a couple of weeks old. The photos were taken at Anmer Hall by Kate.

9: Trooping the Colour

In what is a rite of passage for royal children, George made his first appearance at the Queen’s official birthday parade, taking to the Buckingham Palace balcony with the rest of the Royals. He was also spotted at the window watching with delight as soldiers made their way to Horse Guards Parade for the ceremony.

10: Charlotte’s christening

The Cambridges delighted the crowds at Sandringham when George strolled hand in hand with William as Charlotte was pushed to church by Kate in a vintage 1950s Millson pram once used by the Queen for her children.

George showed himself to be a doting older brother when, standing on tiptoes, he peeked into the pram at Charlotte’s christening to look at his nine-week-old baby sister.
