The plan to release a song calling for the murderers of Stephen Carroll to be released will achieve nothing except hurting his widow, said one politician.

UUP Upper Bann MLA Jo-Anne Dobson joined in the condemnation of the proposed release of Pol MacAdaim’s track ‘Justice for the Craigavon Two’, referring to those convicted of the PSNI man’s 2009 killing.

As reported in the News Letter on Thursday, his widow Kate expressed shock at the news.

Ms Dobson spoke to her on Thursday after the paper broke the news, and said afterwards the song “will achieve absolutely nothing other than to cause yet more suffering and distress to Kate and her family and re-traumatise them.”
