Sectarian graffiti was discovered in the Connsbrook Avenue area of east Belfast on Thursday morning.

The graffiti was daubed in two locations, including on the side of a local business.

UUP councillor Sonia Copeland said the graffiti was “pretty disgusting in this day and age”.

Alliance Party MLA Chris Lyttle said: “This mindless and sectarian intimidation is not reflective of the increasingly diverse and shared east Belfast.

“I welcome the prompt response of Belfast City Council to remove this hate-filled graffiti and have reported it to the PSNI but it is clear that much more work needs to be done to remove hate from our community.”
