Strong entry of quality cattle at Swatragh

Cattle: Another strong entry of quality cattle on Monday 18th April met a good trade with some very good prices,more quality stock is required to meet demand.

Heifers selling to £900 for 450kg (£2 per kg) with bullocks selling to £1,000 for 496kgs (£2.01 per kg) with fat cows selling to £1,000.

Bullocks: Garvagh producer 496kg, £1,000; 324kg, £655; 266kg, £500; 314kg, £650; 402kg, £780; 306kg, £645; 332kg, £620; Maghera producer 350kg, £800; Magherafelt producer 240kg, £555; 284kg, £515.

Sheep: A super entry of 1,285 sheep at Swatragh on Saturday 16th April witnessed a very good solid lamb trade. Several pens of heavy lambs sold well in excess of £92 each to a top rate of £96, middleweight lambs sold to £90 for 21.75kg, spring lambs sold to £95.00, ewes sold to £91.00 while ewes and lambs sold to £168.00.

Middleweight lambs: Swatragh producer 8 lambs 21.75kg at 90.00 = 414p; Dungiven producer 4 lambs 19kg at 75.00 = 395p.

Ewes: Dungiven producer 1 Texel at 91.00; Cookstown producer 7 Texels at 90.00.
