Suckler stock sells to £1,500 at Rathfriland Co-op

Some high prices were recorded last Friday (October 14, 2016) with suckler outfits to £1,500.

Three farmers from Dromara, Edenagarry and Lisnacroppin all sold bullocks at £1,200.

The first 30 bullocks through the ring saw 28 sell at over £1,000 each. Store bullocks cleared up to 205 pence per kilo for 446k at £915.

A smaller amount of heifers cleared up to £885 for a 460k Ch from Dysart.

Weanling male calves to £890 for 410 and females to £815 for 396k.

A Lurgan farmer reached 253 pence per kilo for 296k at £750.

Dropped calves were exceptionally dear to £475 for a two month old Lim heifer for Banbridge. A Dromore farmer reached £425 for a pen of Herefords.

1400 sheep were sold on Tuesday evening with 1288 lambs selling to £92 for 32k from Poyntzpass. Quite a few lots from £83.50 to £86 with 2/3 of the entry being store lambs. These sold to 398p/k. Fat ewes sold up to £80 for a Ballynahinch farmer with rams to £120.
