Santa Claus will be Santa Paws this weekend as he drops into Belfast’s only dog park in aid of Lucy’s Trust charity.
The man in red will be visiting Doggy Dynamos at South 13 on Boucher Road, meeting the city’s dogs and leaving a gift or two.
It’s all to give recognition to the devoted pets who bring so much love and joy to their owners throughout the year.
Mrs Claus who loves dogs, will also be making her way to the former B&Q warehouse on Boucher Road, as well as Santa’s helpers - all volunteers at the dog park - who will be giving out mulled punch, mince pies and sweet nibbles.
Lucy’s Trust in Co Antrim takes the most challenged dogs, rehabilitates them to suitable homes or keeps them to live out their lives - free from the threat of being euthanised - on the farm.
Aimee O’Neill from Doggy Dynamos said money raised goes to help less unfortunate dogs who through no fault of their own find themselves with no home.
She said: “We’re looking forward to greeting Santa and all the dogs where they can get into the Christmas canine spirit. There will be gifts for the dogs, lots of goodies and festive drinks for owners, and an opportunity to give some time to our dogs and exercise them in a safe, secure space where they can make friends, play and enjoy our agility course with their owners.
“Dogs who are lucky to have well-deserved good homes can help dogs who find sanctuary for life at this wonderful and dedicated local charity.”
Doggy Dynamos’s Santa Paws takes place from noon to 4pm. All dogs free. £6 per person. £10 for two people and £5 additional person. Maximum 3 dogs per owner. Free parking. Children over 16 only. Parkour facilities available for children aged six and over priced £5.
