Thieves make off with collection after Sunday Mass

The incident is reported to have taken place at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Victoria Avenue, Whitehead between 10.30am and 11.00am on Sunday, September 4.

Constable Billy Brennan confirmed that entry was gained to the Co Antrim church and an undisclosed sum of money was stolen.

He added: “I am appealing for anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to contact police at Larne on 101 quoting reference number 577 – 05/09/2016. Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
