Three killed in weekend road accidents


Three people have died in separate road crashes in Tyrone over the weekend.

A man in his 40s was killed following a two-vehicle collision involving a lorry and a van on the Melmount Road, Victoria Bridge, Strabane, on Saturday at around 10pm.

One male has been arrested and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Then, around 2.30am this morning, a woman in her 50s died following a one-vehicle accident on the Moneymore Road, Cookstown.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to either incident to contact them on 101.

Meanwhile, Cookstown police have named a pedestrian who died following a fatal road traffic collision outside the town in the early hours of Saturday.

Jayne Burnside, 23, from Cookstown, died after being struck by a vehicle on Gortagammon Road, Tullyhogue just before 1am.
