A MASSIVE free concert, announced yesterday will see Belfast ring in the New Year with style.
Rock Around the Clock will witness top local acts join headliners Ocean Colour Scene for the celebratory knees-up at the city’s Custom House Square.
Music by artists David Holmes, Foy Vance, Bap Kennedy and Tin Pot Operation will see an eclectic mix of dance, folk, rock and punk make the revellers move as they sing and dance in the new year.
With a recently released single and tour starting tonight, top British folk-rock band Ocean Colour Scene are sure to set the crowd off with their long list of chart-topping hits as the headliners on the night.
DJ David Holmes is better known as the driving force behind legendary club night Shine and gained international prominence through his contribution to the Ocean’s 11 series of soundtracks.
Currently collaborating with Holmes is Foy Vance, who has worked his way through the pubs and clubs scene and is now firmly established on the international stage with his unique sound.
Local singer-songwriter Bap Kennedy, who claims the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Mark Knopfler among his fans, will be performing on stage.
And west Belfast indie-punk quartet Tin Pot Operation, who have established a reputation as one of the few non-traditional bands to perform in the Irish language, will also be there to add a little anarchy to the event.
The gates will open at 7pm and the concert will finish at 12.30am.
Tickets to the celebrations go on sale today, and are available from the Belfast Welcome Centre, Donegall Place.
A special Metro bus service will operate on the evening.
