Well bred, well turned out Limousin bulls met a flying commercial trade at Newark Market's Spring Limousin Day on Saturday (9 April), with 15 bulls selling at 4000gns and more and the 32 bulls sold levelling the day at £3885.

Auctioneer Paul Gentry said demand had been strong and local and further travelled commercial buyers were willing to bid well for the bulls they wanted.

He said: “Vendors with the right bulls were well rewarded and the consistent trade throughout is testament to the quality of the cattle forward. With beef prices still under pressure buyers were cautious, but equally determined and showed their desire for high quality bulls to leave calves with extra value when sold as either stores or prime cattle.”
