Trial for north Belfast murder to begin

A jury consisting of six women and six men has been sworn in to preside over the trial of two men accused of murder.

Louis Maguire and Christopher Power have been charged with murdering Eamonn Ferguson, who was killed in his north Belfast home in March 2014.

Both Maguire, 28, whose address was given as HMP Maghaberry, and his 33-year-old co-accused Power, of no fixed abode and who is originally from Co Offaly, are facing trial for the murder of Mr Ferguson.

The remains of the 35-year-old were discovered in his flat at Ardoyne Place in the early hours of March 15, 2014. The two accused have both denied his murder.

The trial is due to last between three and four weeks. Mr Justice Deeny then told the jury that the trial was due to commence on Tuesday morning.

Both Maguire and Power were remanded back into custody.
