The ‘Twelfthie’ is set to return as the Orange Order is encouraging its members and supporters to snap a selfie to celebrate the Twelfth.

Last year, social media site Twitter was awash with colour as marchers, band members and spectators uploaded arm’s length self-portraits from their smartphones and tablets using the hashtag #Twelfthie.

Grand Lodge Community Education Officer, David Scott, said 2014 would be remembered as the year of the Twelfthie – and urged all present at this year’s demonstrations to share their favourite moments .

“The Twelfth is unsurpassed in terms of its colour and vibrancy; with distinctive banners, collarettes and impressive band uniforms providing the perfect backdrop for those wishing to partake in a selfie photograph to mark the occasion.”
