Two boys are charged after disorder in Lurgan

Two 15-year-old boys have been charged after the disorder in the Kilwilkie area of Lurgan on Monday.

One of the teenagers has been charged with riotous behaviour, arson and placing an object on a railway with intent to obstruct or overthrow an engine.

He is expected to appear before Lisburn Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

The other 15-year-old has been charged with riotous behaviour, making a petrol bomb and throwing a petrol bomb. He is expected to appear before Craigavon Youth Court on Tuesday, April 12.

The charges relate to the disorder in Lurgan on Monday afternoon when a number of petrol bombs were thrown at police during the disturbances. During the disorder two police officers were injured. Their injuries are not believed to be serious.

As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
