The police have warned of treacherous driving conditions across parts of Northern Ireland as a combination of snow and rain struck.

The Glenshane Pass in Co Londonderry was closed to traffic but has now reopened.

The M1 west bound from Loughgall was down to one lane because of snow. Motorists were asked avoid the Hightown Road in Glengormley due to hazardous conditions. Conditions were difficult between Sandyknowes and Templepatrick on the M2 while the Pond Park Road in Lisburn was impassable due to snow.

Drivers are asked to drive with extreme care.
