A towering wind turbine made an unusual sound before it collapsed, one observer has said.
PJ McCarney said it was “a low banging noise like a low-flying helicopter” all day on Friday, getting worse later that night, he told the BBC.
The device was located between Fintona and Fivemiletown, and it believed to be part of the Screggagh wind farm.
Photographs which have been posted online show the turbine lying smashed on the ground.
Reportedly, there were no high winds at the time. An investigation is now said to be underway by the turbine operators.
