Woman in Tyrone dies from injuries after crash

A woman has died one day after being hit by a vehicle.

The 56-year-old woman from the Omagh area had been struck in the town on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident had happened at about 3.05pm close to the grammar school on James Street.

The woman was a pedestrian, and the vehicle in question was a red Toyota Yaris.

She had been taken to hosiptal after suffering a serious head injury, but by Thursday evening police said she had lost her fight for life.

In a statement, Inspector Keith McBrien said: “I would ask anyone who witnessed the collision, the car or the woman in the area at the time to contact Omagh Police Station or the Collision Investigation Unit at Steeple Police Station on the non-emergency number 101”.
