Army defuse bombs but also drop them

In response to Robin Newton (February 25) I agree 100 per cent the British Army do defuse bombs here and do protect lives and property and I thank them for doing this dangerous and praiseworthy job.

But the headline on his letter (‘Army keep people safe from bombs’) is untrue as the same British Army use bombs day and night (mostly nights) to devastate other countries’ citizens and infrastructure as in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, etc.

Hence we have one unit of the British Army been hailed as heroes for defusing bombs and saving life and another unit hailed as heroes for using bombs to take life and devastate whole countries.

Something is wrong somewhere.

Both cannot be heroes.
