I feel sorry for Rev Kirkland (letters 18 December 18) that he feels unable to follow the commands of scripture in the ways that give him true and full freedom of his conscience.

However, as he wants to carry out the commands of scripture in obedience to God I will happily meet with him.

Though I would also invite the PSNI and media both broadcast and print to witness him exercising the command part Leviticus 20:13 in putting me to death.

I’m sure he’d be convinced that the legitimacy of the law would not restrict his obedience to God in front of those witnesses.

Then this season of goodwill to all would merely bring about the death of a Christian who has lain with another man, with no consequence to Rev Kirkland and his conscience for his act of obedience.
