Irish should of course be taught in an Irish town

What a bizarre ridiculous statement in Lyle Cubbitt’s letter (October 5), and I quote, ‘why can Irish not be taught the same as any other foreign language?’

I note Lyle gives his address as Ballymena. The last time I looked at a map of Ireland Ballymena was one of the towns on it.

Foreign Lyle, you’re pulling a fast one. Get a life. You personally do not have to learn or speak Irish – let others do so if they wish .

If Irish can not be taught in Ireland where on God’s earth would you Lyle suggest it be taught or spoken?
