Letter writer challenges William McCrea's definition of a terrorist

In the article ‘DUP seek new victim definition’ (April 10), Rev William McCrea used the terms terrorist and terrorism as if it was a given.

Hence I pose this question to Mr McCrea and others: Who or what is a terrorist (terrorism)?

Is it the country who with great force, violence and threats invade another country (in our case Britain), killing our citizens, stealing our homes and lands, kidnapping Irish Catholic children and shipping them to Barbados and other British colonies to be sold as slaves, ethnically cleansing our island and installing strangers of their chosen religion, romantically calling it plantation (which is something you do with shrubs and potatoes)?

Or is it the group or individual who fight back to rid their country of that violent invader? Answers please Mr McCrea (or others)
