Israel has free elections, a free press and independent courts

Peter McEvoy finds it bizarre that Israel is widely regarded as a beacon of light in the Middle East.

I challenge Mr McEvoy to name another country in that region which has free elections, a free press, independent courts and freedom of worship. Israel is the only country in the Middle East whose religious minorities, both Muslim and Christian, are growing.

So Mr McEvoy, which other Middle Eastern country besides Israel would you like to live in if you were gay, a woman, a Christian or just a vociferous opponent of the government? I’d pick Israel every time.
