Israel will be around for some time

The speech by Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahyu went down very well in the United States but will also find criticism from Israel’s detractors.

I thought it was very timely that Mr Netanyahu highlighted the nuclear threat of Iran at a time in the Hebrew calendar when the Jewish people observe the feast of Purim which recounts the story of Queen Esther and the plot to annihilate the Jews of ancient Persia, which today is Iran.

It seems that Iran still has a bent to wipe out the people of Israel and that Israel would be the first target should a nuclear confrontation take place.

I would say that Mr Netanyahu, like his forebear Queen Esther, is in place “for such a time as this”.

God in the Bible makes one thing clear about the nation of Israel in Jeremiah 31:36, “Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for a light by day, the ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night, who disturbs the sea, and its waves roar (the LORD of Hosts is His Name): If those ordinances depart from before Me, says the LORD, then the seed of Israel shall also cease from being a nation before Me forever.”

With such assurances from the Holy Scriptures we can expect Israel to be around for some time to come.
