The statement by the foreign minister of the Republic of Ireland, Simon Coveney, that the UK government should not be able to decide Brexit negotiations because it had support from the DUP is an impertinence which will offend most people in Northern Ireland.

Who decides for the UK is an internal matter for the people of the United Kingdom, and not a minister of a foreign country.
