Voting tactically to save the UK

Will tactical voting be required in next year’s Holyrood, Cardiff Bay and Stormont elections if the United Kingdom is to continue to stick together?

Under the Additional Member System, Scottish and Welsh voters may have to embrace the Conservative, Labour or Liberal Democratic candidate (and party) most likely to win in each constituency.

In Northern Ireland, where we have full proportional representation, the electorate may need to be persuaded to vote down the line for the entire unionist mainstream.

However, in the forthcoming EU referendum, with the Scots uppermost in mind, will we have to choose to maintain the European Union in order to keep the United Kingdom together?
