Three weight World champion Abner Mares is still looking to lock horns with IBF Super-bantamweight champion Carl Frampton.
The Mexican fighter has held World titles at bantamweight, super-bantamweight and featherweight and after beating Jose Ramirez in Las Vegas on Saturday night he claims he wants ‘The Jackal.’
Frampton however defends his IBF title against mandatory challenger Chris Avalos in Belfast in his next outing - and Mares says he would be interested in having a meeting with the Belfast fighter.
“It is a fight that interests me in every single way because he is a very well known fighter.
“Frampton is a tough opponent and I like to fight the best and hopefully we can get that fight made.
“I hear he is fighting Avalos but he has the option to move up.
“If he wants I can go down to super-bantamweight or I will be waiting here for him. No problem,” added Mares.
