Alfredo Meli has been given a golden opportunity to get his hands on the Commonwealthn title on April 30.
The 25 year old will fight prospect Sam Sheedy (16-1) for the light middleweight belt in Sheffield.
Meli impressed in his last outing as he took Conrad Cummings the whole way at the Waterfront Hall to claim a draw in their Celtic title encounter.
April 30 will be a busy night for local fighters as Meli has his title fight, while James Tennyson fights Ryan Walsh for the English fighter’s British Featherweight title and Jamie Conlan will try to get his hands on the Commonwealth Super-flyweight crown as he tackles Anthony Nelson
There were also knock-out wins yesterday in Latvia for James Fryers and Paul Hyland jnr.
