Carl Frampton has dismissed Leo Santa Cruz’s words of support before he defends his IBF World title at the Odyssey in Belfast on February 28.
WBC World champion Santa Cruz has stated that he believes ‘The Jackal’ will beat Chris Avalos at the Belfast venue and defend his IBF title.
But Frampton says Santa Cruz’s words mean nothing.
“It was nice of him to say those things but it is me against Avalos on February 28 and it does not matter what anyone says, I have to deliver on the night.
“I know that if I perform to my best - I beat Avalos in every department. Preparation is going very well and not long now,” he added.
And Frampton says that Prince Naseem Hamed also believes he will get the job done against Avalos.
“I spoke to the Prince in a hair dressers in London. He was very supportive, complimentary and he likes my work.
“But what a fighter he was in his prime. He was very talented and what a puncher.
“It was great to talk to him and he wants to come and watch me train at the gym, which is a great compliment,” he added.
