Scott Quigg’s trainer Joe Gallagher believes a fight against Carl Frampton will happen.
A clash between the pair has been touted for a number of years and the calls for the encounter reached fever pitch after Frampton’s IBF title victory against Kiko Mazrtinez in September 2014.
And now the fight looks set to take place in 2016, with Quigg’s trainer Gallagher admitting talks are going well.
“There has been lots of talks over the last couple years but finally it looks like it will happen.
‘I’m hearing they are talking about February 20 or February 27 and it will be the biggest fight of the year.”
Promoters Eddie Hearn and Barry McGuigan have been locked in talks, which are understood to have progressed in recent weeks.
The O2 Arena in London is unavailable though, so a decision would still need to be made on the venue, with Manchester Arena still looking the most likely.
