James Fryers loses British title eliminator at Europa Hotel

James Fryers came up short at the Europa Hotel in Belfast on Saturday night.

Belfast super-featherweight Fryers lost his British title eliminator on points to England’s Maxi Hughes.

Two of the judges gave it to Hughes 96-94 and 97-93, while the other judge gave it 98-93 to Fryers.

It was a disaapointing night for Fryers as he could not get to grips with the elusive Hughes

Also at the Europa James Tennyson stopped Antonio Horvatic in the first round.

Joe Fitzpatrick had a first round victory against Ruslans Berdimuradovs and Tyrone McCullagh also won his contest in the first round.

Paul Hyland jnr had a 59-55 points win against Jacek Wylezol and Fergal McCrory was a 40-36 winner against Peter Mellar.
