Promoter Mark Dunlop believes a massive local showdown between James Tennyson and Marc McCullough could happen sooner, rather than later.
Dunlop fighter Tennyson fights in Estonia on Saturday night, while McCullough will compete at the Waterfront on November 20.
Featherweight Tennyson holds the Celtic title and will soon fight in a final eliminator for the British title, while McCullough has set his sights on the Commonwealth belt.
And Dunlop says they could meet.
“If James gets the British title and Marc wins the Commonwealth title, that would be a big fight for Belfast. Alfredo Meli faces Conrad Cummings for the Celtic title soon, and this what fight fans want, local fighters facing each other for titles,” he added.
Tennyson will fight in Estonia with stablemate James Fryers. They will both fight on the undercard of the clash between Robert Helenius (21-0) and Timur Musafarov (6-2) .
That show will be broadcast live on the internet and is available via the following link at 9.99 (pre book) or 15 euro on the night: http:/live.babahh.com/boxingnight
