Paddy Gallagher is the new Celtic welterweight champion after stopping Tony Dixon in the first round of their clash in Cardiff.

Gallagher and Dixon both came out firing in the opening three minutes but near the end of the first round a chopping right hand from Gallagher sent Dixon crashing to the canvas.

And even though he tried to get to his feet - the fight was stopped by the referee.

It take Gallagher’s record to ten wins from 12 fights and he will look to move on to bigger and better fights in the coming months.

There was also a good win for Conrad Cummings on Saturday night as he stopped Frankie Borg in the sixth round of their middleweight clash in Cardiff.
