Sean McComb knows he will have to be at his best this weekend if he is to get his hands on an Irish Senior Elite title at the National Stadium in Dublin.
McComb - from the Holy Trinity Gym in Belfast - faces George Bates for the 60kg title.
McComb beat Bates to claim his first Senior title two years ago and is a fighter he shares a High Performance sparring ring with on a regular occasion.
Both fighters know each others game inside out and Belfast fighter McComb cannot wait to get started against a fighter he knows very well.
“I have Bates again in the final. I have two wins over him, but that’s taking nothing away from him.
“He is very smart and he always gets a game plan going.
“We seen that in the semi final he boxed a similar boxer to my style and he got the game plan out and got the win,” McComb said,
“ I spar him all the time in the High Performance he knows my strengths and weaknesses and I know his. We are familiar with each other and it should be a good fight, but I am confident,” he added.
McComb overcame Gerard Matthews in the semi-final and the fighter who refused to enter the Ulster Championships was happy to get some competitive action in.
“I am happy to get a fight in. It’s been a long time.
“I didn’t box in the Ulsters because of politics and it was good to get the ring rust out.”
