Tommy McCarthy claimed an impressive points win over Courtney Fry in Belfast on Saturday night.

The Belfast cruiserweight had Courtney on the canvas twice before going on to win the fight 77-74 on the referee’s scorecard.

Fry was down in the second and the eighth but recovered to hear the final bell.

It was McCarthy’s sixth win in six fights and going the eight rounds will help him further down the line.

There were also wins on Saturday night for Alfredo Meli – who claimed the Celtic Nations middleweight title – Tyrone McKenna, Joe Fitzpatrick, Paddy Gallagher but Paul Quinn lost his encounter.
