CIYMS crushed Ballymena by 74 runs at Eaton Park on Wednesday night in the only Lagan Valley Steel Twenty20 Cup match to survive the weather.

Chris Dougherty, the captain, and Nathan Waller both struck half-centuries, and professional Rassie van der Dussen added 38 as the Belmont men piled up 158 for two batting first.

Ethan Archer and captain Simon McDowell were the Ballymena wicket-takers and the home side, with three successive defeats behind them, were never at the races in reply. McDowell plundered an unbeaten 28 but they closed on 84 for six.

The two other scheduled fixtures on Wednesday night were called off yesterday morning.

Heavy rain over the weekend and on Monday and Tuesday left both The Lawn in Waringstown and Stormont unplayable. Replays will be attempted next week.

Result: CIYMS 158-2 (C Dougherty 54, N Waller 50, 20 overs, R van der Dussen 38): Ballymena 84-6, 20 overs (S McDowell 28 no, N Brown 2-13). CIYMS won by 74 runs.
