Bowl-outs have been an unfortunate feature of the 2014 season they reared their head once again yesterday in a farcical conclusion to the North West’s Twenty20 Faughan Valley Cup.

Donemana beat Coleraine 2-0 at The Bleachgreen, Ardmore with Dwayne McGerrigle and Junior McBrine hitting the stumps.

Prolonged rain ensured a proper finish was not possible as the woeful August weather continued.

Glendermott earlier lifted the Eric Cooke Memorial cup after a thrilling six-run victory over St Johnston.

Simon Killen top scored with 68 as Glendermott overcame the loss of professional Roy Silva for a duck to post 123 for six in their 20 overs.

The real hero though was Curtis Ross who proved to be Glendermott’s match-winner with the ball.

St Jonston got off to a fine start in their run chase, reaching 37 without loss but Ross’ introduction turned the game around.

He finished with figures of five for 29 from four overs with captain Gordon Montgomery also conceding just 14 in a miserly spell.

Glendermott 123-6 (S Killen 68, K Singh 3-17); St Johnston 117-7 (M Rankin 42, K Singh 25 no, C Ross 5-29). Glendermott win by six runs.
