Jack Trector has been confirmed as captain of the Ireland Under 19 squad which will play in the ICC European Championships in Jersey from July 11-19.

The YMCA opener is joined in the squad by his younger brother Harry - indeed there are three sets of brothers in the 14-man squad.

Donemana twins Gary and William McClintock are included, as well as Pembroke’s Fiachra and Lorcan Tucker. Opener Sonny Cott is also named from the Sydney Parade side.

Waringstown have two representatives with Adam Dennison and James Mitchell named.

Bready wicket-keeper Andrew Austin features along with his Warriors team-mate Aaron Gillespie from Strabane.

Phoenix all-rounder Rory Anders, Clontarf’s David Delany, and Merrion’s Tom Stanton complete the line-up. Ten of the squad are members of the Shapoorji Pallonji Cricket Ireland Academy.

“It’s a strong squad which we we hope will be good enough to win the competition,” said Ireland U19 coach Ryan Eagleson. “We have played a lot of games in the build-up to the tournament in Jersey, and this will stand us in good stead come mid-July.

“The squad has a number of powerful all-rounders which will give us plenty of options for what is a crucial event.”

Ireland will be joined in the tournament by hosts Jersey, Netherlands and traditional rivals Scotland.

The winners of the competition will qualify automatically for the 2016 Under 19 World Cup in Bangladesh, with the second placed side taking part in a repechage tournament for the final place.
