Civil Service North fast bowler Allen Coulter has made the switch to the club’s deadly rivals and neighbours CIYMS.

The 31-year-0ld has told club officials at Stormont that he is leaving the club after 13 years.

Coulter joined CSNI when they were called Belfast Harlequins and he has gone on to be one of the most effective bowlers in their history.

He has three Challenge Cup winners’ medals, and also won the Ulster Cup and Twenty20 Cup. He joined the club when he was just 18 and will now link up with his former captain Nigel Jones at Belmont.

Meanwhile the NCU confirmed last night that James Shannon has taken over the captaincy of the Northern Knights interprovincial team following the retirement of Andrew White.

Chairman of the NCU Andy Clement said: “I look forward to the Knights having a successful season in 2016 under the leadership of James and there is an expectation that the Knights with the talent available to James and the head coach can be more than competitive across all three formats of the Interprovincial Series”.
