Gary McCutcheon is set to make his return for Ballymena United on Saturday.
The Scottish striker – who spent two years at the Showgrounds from 2010-12– is available after moving from Crusaders in the transfer window.
“I have just got confirmation that Cutchy is free to play, so that is a bonus,” boss Glenn Ferguson said.
“We also have Jim Ervin and David Cushley returning from injury and they will play for the reserves. So will goalkeeper Dwayne Nelson.
“There is competition for places, so players need to improve on Thursday’s display against Warrenpoint or they will be dropped – simple as that.”
Ballymena sit two points behind Saturday’s opponents Glenavon, and Ferguson is targeting maximum reward from the clash at the Showgrounds (3pm).
“We can go above Glenavon if we beat them on Saturday, so that is a massive incentive for us,” Ferguson added.
“We missed a chance of climbing the table on Thursday, but we have to move on and focus on Saturday’s game.We have some big games coming up and we need to improve.”
