Cliftonville dropped another two points as Ballinamallard United held the champions to a 1-1 draw at Ferney Park.

The Mallards were unfortunate not to emerge with more reward after hitting the woodwork on three occasions.

They did take the lead on 52 minues with a Mark Stafford goal before they gifted the champions the equaliser.

A Ballinamallard free kick on the halfway line was played back to keeper McCusker, but it fell short for Cliftonville substitute Jay Donnelly to slot home.

The draw leaves Cliftonville six points behind leaders Linfield who play Crusaders on New Year’s Day.
