Cliftonville all but surrendered their grip on the Danske Bank Premiership title as Warrenpoint Town twice battled back for a deserved draw at Solitude.

Ahead through Jay Donnelly and then Joe Gormley, the Reds were pegged back when Hughes brothers Stephen and Mark plundered equalisers to maintain the county Down side’s momentum in the relegation scrap.

Donnelly rattled Cliftonville in front with a low drive which beat Jonathan Parr via the base of the post on 17 minutes but Town restored parity before the interval with Stephen Hughes bundling home from a corner.

Substitute Gormley’s 66th minute header restored the champions’ advantage and, just when the Reds looked like they had finally developed a grasp on proceedings, they were rocked when Mark Hughes dispossessed Ryan Catney and slammed home with 10 minutes left on the clock.
