Coleraine boss Oran Kearney will unleash his new strike force, former Linfield duo, Rodney Brown and Sammy Morrow, on Rangers in Friday night’s glamour friendly at the Showgrounds.
“Both players are proven goal scorers, so hopefully, they can make a big impact for us in the up coming Danske Premier Leaguer campaign,” said Kearney. “Another of our new faces, James McLaughlin will also be involved.
“This game will be ideal preparation for what will be another demanding season.
“We are packing in as many games we can to help improve our match fitness levels after a tough pre-season programme.
“However, this will undoubtedly be our toughest test, but it’s a chance for the boys to compete against a very good side.
“They have worked very hard since they returned to training . . . I couldn’t have asked any more from them.
“We are using the match is another step towards the opening league game against Glentoran on August 8. Rangers are a massive draw and they should bring a big army of their locally based fans.”
Meanwhile Glenavon manager Gary Hamilton last night pounced to sign highly rated midfielder Joel Cooper from Ballyclare Comrades.
The 19 year old agreed a two year deal. Cooper can also operate as a striker.
“Joel is quick and can deliver a great ball into the box,” said Hamilton. “We work a lot on set pieces and he will be a great addition in terms of his delivery.
“He is part of our long term development plan.
Cooper, a life long Glenavon fan, featured for Northern Ireland in the Regions Cup.
