Crusaders eased past Newington YC at Seaview to book their place in the sixth round of the Irish Cup.

The Danske Bank Premiership leaders proved a cut above their Championship 2 opponents as they surged to a 6-0 victory.

New signings Barry Molloy and Stephen O’Flynn both scored on their full debuts for the Crues, while Richard Clarke, Timmy Adamson and Diarmuid O’Carroll (2) all found the net to complete a convincing win on the Shore Road.

O’Flynn provided the pass for Clarke to break the deadlock in the 17th minute, the midfielder coolly slotting past Dean Smyth.

Adamson made it 2-0 on 32 minutes when he pounced on Conal Burns’ defensive lapse to finish off with ease.

Molly added the third six minutes later when he fired home from 22 yards after a neat interchange with O’Carroll.

Crusaders added to their tally in the 58th minute when O’Carroll got in on the act - the striker tapping home Adamson’s cross from close range.

O’Flynn was rewarded for an industrious display when he got on the scoresheet in 82nd minute, the former Institute striker finishing off Billy Joe Burns’ cross at the back post.

And O’Carroll wrapped up the win with a drilled finish five minutes from time.
