CRUSADERS 4 WARRENPOINT 1

Crusaders set down a title marker with this convincing win over Warrenpoint Town at Seaview.

They opened their goal account on seven minutes when Paul Heatley shot home after being put through by Dairmuid O’Carroll.

The Crues struck again on 11 minutes when Jordan Owens tapped in from close range following a howler from Town goalkeeper Johnny Parr.

It was three 11 minutes before the interval. Gavin Whyte cut though the visiting defence like a hot knife through butter, before ramming the ball into the bottom corner.

Warrenpoint’s Darren King was dismissed seconds before the break after picking up his second yellow card.

Barry Gray’s team hit a late consolation when Stephen McCabe slotted home a John McGuigan cross.

But the Crues were still not finished. Richard Clarke’s wonderful pass sent Heatley clear and he stroked the ball into the bottom corner.
