GLENTORAN 2 CLIFTONVILLE 1
A last gasp winner from sub Danny McKee gave Glentoran the Christmas box they wanted.
The young striker chased a long clearance from Glens man of the match Elliott Morris before calmly lobbing the formidable Conor Devlin for a 92nd minute winner.
It sparked raucous celebrations amongst the Glenmen some of whom began singing Oh Come Let Us Adore Him to add a seasonal twist to a dramatic end to a game that could have gone either way.
The teams have gone in level at half time after David McDaid’s opener for the visitors was squared up when David Scullion scored for Glentoran.
The Reds, playing on this occasion in all yellow strip, went in front after 11 minutes with Joe Gormley turning provider on this occasion.
He found space on the left and his ball into the box found McDaid who took a touch before blasting home his 12th goal of the season.
On 24 minutes Scullion was lurking just outside the box when a wayward header dropped to him.
He deftly despatched it into the net with a crisp volley which appeared to take a slight deflection on the way through.
That is how it stayed until McKee appeared with a Christmas cracker.
