Danny Wilson has been named the new manager of League One strugglers Chesterfield.
The 55-year-old former Northern Ireland international, who had a spell playing for the Spireites in the early 1980s, replaces Dean Saunders following his sacking last month.
The club say the length of his contract has not been disclosed, but it is beyond the end of the season.
Chesterfield have lost their last six league matches to tumble down to 18th in the table.
Wilson has been out of work since leaving Barnsley in February. As well as two spells at Oakwell, he has also managed Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol City, MK Dons, Hartlepool, Swindon and Sheffield United.
Chesterfield’s next fixture is away at Peterborough on Boxing Day.
