Striker Declan ‘Fabio’ O’Brien is preparing for a “massive week” with new club Glenavon.
The Lurgan Blues entertain Dungannon Swifts in the Danske Bank Premiership on Tuesday night, before kicking-off the defence of their Irish Cup crown on Saturday.
Gary Hamilton’s men will begin their cup campaign with a tricky trip to Moyola Park as they set out to defend their trophy.
Two wins could give the Lurgan men a sizeable boost as they continue plotting their course this season.
Glenavon continue to have lofty ambitions in the Premiership, with a run in the Irish Cup also a major target.
“It’s a massive week,” said O’Brien.
“Two wins and things would start looking a lot better for us. It was vital to get a win at Ballymena on Saturday, but we need to build on it. There’s no point playing well one day and not perform three days later. It’s all about consistency for us.
“There are goals in the team and if we can keep things tighter at the back, we will climb the table.”
O’Brien made his debut in Saturday’s 4-2 win over Ballymena United, bagging a clinical hat-trick to become an instant hit with fans.
It was a memorable bow for the 35-year-old former Drogheda United striker, who has signed an 18-month deal with Glenavon.
Now O’Brien is hoping to add more goals to his tally in the weeks and months ahead.
“I couldn’t have wished for a better debut,” he added.
“Chances came my way and once the first one went in, I was confident I could get more.
“It was great to get off the mark with a hat-trick and hopefully I can score a few more. I thrive on goals.
“I’ve scored goals wherever I’ve been and I want to continue that with Glenavon. I’m 35 now and I want to add to my legacy.
“I have been around a few clubs – the likes of St Pat’s and Dundalk – and I spent 10 years on and off with Drogheda, but I want to make a mark with Glenavon now.
“That’s what I will hopefully do this season.”
