Celtic may be clear leaders of the Premiership and in the last 32 of the Europa League , but for manager Ronny Deila his entire time as Parkhead boss will be determined by Sunday’s Old Firm clash with Rangers.
The Norwegian Manager has never experienced the unique atmosphere of a Celtic v Rangers encounter, but was quick to dismiss the suggestion that he will be at a disadvantage because of this.
“I know how to cope with pressure – I have experienced big games before. I will try to remain calm during the game,” he said.
“All I’m thinking of is winning. Rangers have a lot of experienced players. We will need to concentrate. I would take a 1-0 win right now.”
Deila was certainly aware of the magnitude of the task in hand.
“All cup ties are special – and this is a semi-final,” he added.
“We will have the majority of possession – Rangers will play tactically. We also have a good match-plan and tactics, as well as knowing our opponents well. If we do that, then we are a very good team and it is hard to beat us.
“Everybody wants to play in this game. You get confidence from good performances and good results and recently we’ve had them both. If we keep on doing that we have a very good chance to win the trophies we want to win.”
